Lyrics

by Craig Brenner

Bobbing up and down and up and down, aimlessly he floats,
Purposeless and absentmindedly, in his little boat.
Sun and clouds, then moon and stars above alternately gloat,
"He is lost and alone, and so far from his home."

He resolves to chart a course today to a distant land,
Toward the East, sunrise will show the way, so he rises and stands.
But the clouds, so thick, obscure the dawn, scuttling his plans.
He is lost and alone and he's so far from his home.

Once he thought he'd like this place; now he wants to leave.
Soon he hopes to find his way back across the sea.

Bobbing up and down and up and down, aimlessly he floats,
Purposeless and absentmindedly, in his little boat.
In the water drops a bottle carrying a note:
"I'm so lost and alone, please help me find my way home."

Once he thought he'd love to be all alone at sea.
Now he wants to find his way back to you and me.

Bobbing up and down and up and down, aimlessly he floats,
Purposeless and absentmindedly, in his little boat.
Sun and clouds, then moon and stars above alternately gloat,
"He is lost and alone, and so far from his home."
